Myths in the industry!

MYTH 1: Compatibles will break my printer's warranty...
FACT 1: Wrong - It shouldn't! In fact, a landmark court case established this a few years ago although you do need to make sure you only use high quality compatibles and components (ink/toner etc) like ours that are designed for that purpose. Many customers for peace of mind keep a set of empty genuine cartridges with the machine just in case they need to send it back in for repair so it will never become an issue! ...USE OF OUR COMPATIBLES WILL NOT AFFECT YOUR LEGAL GUARANTEES WITH YOUR PRINTER MANUFACTURER!!
MYTH 2: Cheap refilled toner cartridges won't guarantee a lower cost per page!
FACT 2: Not surprisingly, printer manufacturer's cartridges are designed to wear out when the toner runs out. Some companies simply refill an empty toner or inkjet cartridge so all you're getting is an old cartridge. MYTH 3: Savings from Compatibles are not worth it...
FACT 3: Wrong - The savings are real! Many manufacturers sell their printers at a loss knowing you will return to them for consumables which they charge at artifically high prices. We know that cartridges are made in third world countries often costing pennies and are then marketed and sold and grossly inflated prices! MYTH 4: The quality of Compatibles is not as good...
FACT 4: Wrong - the compatibles we recommend are made to very high standards (often similar to what you would expect from a genuine OEM product) - our Print-Rite cartridges are manufactured to ISO9001 and ISO14001 accrediations which indicates a high industrial standard in production and Print-Rite has also been certified as a STMC compliant company which is a testimony on the quality of their products. It's always a good idea to check when considering other brands that you are not buying inferior products as many cheap brands will not always give you the high level of excellence you are used to and what you would expect from the more expensive genuine (OEM) consumables. What does 5% coverage look like?

We’re regularly asked by our customers how many pages a given toner cartridge should print. The ISO (the Internation Organisation for Standardisation) set a 5% measurement which most of the printer manufacturers follow as their method for the determination of toner cartridge yield for colour printers and multi-function devices that contain printer components. Comparing color laser yield measurements across manufacturers is difficult. Numerous factors affect yield measurement including the test document, print job size, print quality modes, end-of-life determination, sample size and environmental conditions. The ISO/IEC 19798:2007 defines a method for testing and calculation of average yield measured in the number of standard pages for a color toner cartridge and specific printer printing in a semi-continuous mode under a defined set of conditions. It uses the test page suite defined in ISO/IEC 24712. The ISO/IEC 19798:2007 is only intended for the measurement of color toner cartridge yield. No other claims can be made from this testing regarding quality, reliability, etc. The ISO/IEC 24712:2007 defines color test pages for the measurement of consumable yield. The test page suite includes four customer type documents and one diagnostic page that is used to determine end of ink or toner consumable life. The ISO/IEC 24712:2007 provides a set of test pages to be used in the testing of consumable yield. The procedure for using these pages is detailed in ISO/IEC 19798.Some printing programmes actually can tell you the percentage of text on a page however the below picture shows what 5% of text and colour images looks like on an A4 page. Incidentally different fonts and sizes will obviously give you different word counts, so we examined a test sheet of the 3 most commonly used fonts sized 12 (Arial, Times New Roman and Calibiri) and it appears Calibiri is the most economical one to use as you get more printed words than the other fonts! The ISO/IEC 24712:2007 provides a set of test pages to be used in the testing of consumable yield. The procedure for using these pages is detailed in ISO/IEC 19798. The above pages called the ISO/IEC 19798 Standard Test Suite of 5 Pages are intended to represent some of the document types that are used in the office and home to show 5%.
